Singita Tanzania Bush Camp

On its banks stands Singita Mara River Tented Camp, a new generation eco-lodge that operates entirely off the grid and is built from mainly natural and recycled materials.

The lodge consciously seeks to eliminate the unnecessary use of energy and non-biodegradable materials while helping guests to make an authentic and meaningful connection with nature that leaves behind a lighter footprint.

The concept and design of the camp encourages constant engagement with the wild, from the way that tents are positioned on the edge of ‘hovering’ decks, so that one is slightly elevated, to the fly sheets that allow guests to sleep with the main tent flaps open, while being protected from inquisitive insects.

The decor is a celebration of contemporary African design that offers a sense of laid-back luxury; a pared-down approach to the quintessential Singita safari that doesn’t compromise on any creature comforts.

Situated in the Lamai triangle, the northernmost tip of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, Singita’s 98,000 acre concession offers guests abundant year-round game viewing, with high concentrations of resident plains game, big cats and elephant in addition to the Mara River’s large populations of crocodile and hippo.

Remote and unspoilt, Singita Mara River Tented Camp is the epitome of sustainable tourism and a shining example of Singita’s vision to preserve and protect Africa’s wilderness areas for the benefit of future generations.

The Mara River flows from the Mau Forest in the Rift Valley, across 13,500 km2 through Kenya and into Tanzania, before draining into Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake.

The river is a vital source for grazing animals nearby and, as such, forms an important part of the annual migration route that cuts a swathe through the Serengeti.

Accommodation

The accommodation at Mara River Camp consists of six luxury white canvas tents. Four of these tents sleep two guests with the remaining two set up as luxury double tents.

The double tents sleep up to four people in two tents joined by a short walkway and a shared terrace. These double tents are suitable for both two couples traveling together, or for a family with children (over 12 years old). Tent five has been thoughtfully adapted to provide ease of access to elderly or disable Guests.

The interiors of the tent maintain the feel of funky functionality that Guests are first introduced to in the communal areas.

Again the primary colours, symbolic of the Masai, red, black and blue are evident, and are used in combination with contemporary African crafts from young African designers.

Views from the tents can be enjoyed from the covered slip chairs on each private and spacious deck. Sections have also been cut into the screen wall of the outdoor Guest bathrooms to allow for views from the bathtub!

Childcare

Children over the ages of 10 years old are welcome to come and stay at Singita Mara River Tented Camp. All normal safari activities can be tailored to suit families.

There are baby-sitting services available and tailor-made activities to suite each family such as baking with the chefs, board games, star gazing, butterfly capture, identification and release, face painting and a mini rangers’ course.

Facilities

Plunge pool in the main camp, complimentary WiFi, plug points and hair dryers in each room.

Activities

During your stay at the camp you can partake in daily game drives with professional guides and trackers to help you get up close to Africa’s incredible animals.

You can also go on night time game drives to spot the nocturnal animals. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can embark on a walking safari which is an incredible experience. There is a plunge pool at the camp offering the perfect way to refresh yourself between safaris.
